1. Who we are
Panel Parts respects your privacy and handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The operator's registered entity details will be published here on completion of final legal review.
2. What we collect
From all users: name, business name, ABN, email address, phone number, password (hashed), IP address, browser type, activity on the Platform (searches, listing views, contacts made).
From sellers additionally: payment details (handled by Stripe — we don't store card numbers), listing content including photos, buyer-enquiry counts.
From buyers additionally: the listings you view and the sellers you contact via the Platform.
3. Why we collect it
- To create and manage your account.
- To check your ABN and eligibility to trade.
- To display seller phone numbers to buyers so a sale can happen.
- To bill sellers and process subscription payments (via Stripe).
- To detect and prevent fraud, misuse, and safety issues.
- To send you service messages (billing, policy changes, complaints).
- To improve the Platform.
- With your consent, to send you marketing (you can opt out any time).
4. Who we share it with
- Stripe — payment processing for seller subscriptions. Stripe's privacy terms apply. We share the minimum required.
- Supabase (or successor database/hosting provider) — data storage. Data hosted in Australia where possible.
- Other users of the Platform — seller phone numbers are visible to logged-in buyers, as agreed at listing time.
- Law enforcement, regulators, courts — where legally required (e.g. suspected stolen goods, subpoena).
- Professional advisers — accountants, lawyers, insurers, under confidentiality.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Overseas transfer
Some service providers (e.g. Stripe) process data outside Australia (typically USA, Ireland). We take reasonable steps to ensure providers protect your data to APP standards.
6. Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. After closure, we retain records for 7 years to meet tax, accounting, and audit obligations, then delete or anonymise.
7. Your rights
You can:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask for corrections;
- ask us to delete your account and personal information (subject to the 7-year retention above for records we're legally required to keep);
- opt out of marketing;
- complain to us, and if unresolved, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls) to protect your data. No system is 100% secure — you use the Platform at your own risk in that respect.
9. Cookies
We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and measure Platform usage. You can disable cookies in your browser but some features may not work.
